Reading on the Train
Is the train the best place to read? I think it must be. I do not miss schlepping in and out of Boston every day, but I miss that enforced time just sitting alone and not being particularly responsible for anything or anyone. No house to clean, no dog to walk, no child to feed. I like the background noise and activity of the station and the train and being able to disappear into a book. The past few days I've taken two round trips in and out of Boston on the train, finishing one book (Bamboo People by Mitali Perkins) and reading another (The Fault in Our Stars by John Green). Maybe my new weekend activity will be borrowing a T pass from a commuter friend and riding the rails while I read.
