Book: Human Tribe

Human Tribe by Allison Wright

I got this at the library because it had a photo of "the San Francisco twins" Vivian and Marian Brown - but also because it had dozens of other beautiful color photos of people all over the world.

I still remember walking about 50 feet behind the twins down Nob Hill. They were impeccably and identically dressed, as always, and people kept waving at them and they waved back.

Most of the book had photos of people in Asia and sometimes Africa, often in native/tribal dress of some sort. It was interesting to see how different the appearances and complexions were of people from the same countries like India or Afghanistan or Nepal. The photo of the twins was actually pretty different from most of the others. None of the famous people in the book were labeled by name, only by place and date. All the people in the photos had very interesting faces, but it was weird seeing the ones of woman in full burqas with no face at all showing. It made me sad to think that just the humanity of their facial expressions is taken away from them.

There were some photos from Mongolia of people with their eagles. I want to remember to watch that movie about the teenage girl in Mongolia who is an eagle hunter.
