Common Grammar Goofs

I'm a longtime fan of Grammar Girl's Quick and Dirty Tips - it gives good explanations and discussions of English grammar and usage that happens in real life and does it in a way that's not overbearing, unlike most grammar maven columns.

An article in Work Goes Strong entitled "7 Spelling and Grammar Errors that Make You Look Dumb" is geared toward adults writing resumes and other business communications, but has some great reminders of some of the most easily confused words, with sentences that help you see the differences and remember them for:
  • you're / your
  • it's / its
  • they're / their / there
  • loose / lose
  • lead / led
  • a lot / alot / allot
  • between you and I
